Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or similar.

• Minimum of 2 years’ newsroom experience, may include university or internships, including news and featuring reporting and photography.

• Experience developing sources, breaking news and writing features.

• Ability to promote work via social media.

• Background successfully completing multiple long-term assignments on deadline.

• Ability to shoot photos and video for news and feature stories.

• Ability to communicate effectively with sources, reporters and editors.

• Comfortable on stage and in front of a camera.

• Ability to travel, including internationally.

• Comfortable using web-based content-management systems.

Preferences

• Professional experience in multimedia reporting.

• Background covering business news.

• Established social-media presence.

• Experience writing strong blog posts.

• Preference for candidate to work from our Detroit headquarters office.
