Overview

The Emmett Till Interpretive Center (ETIC) is seeking an unpaid Social Media Intern for Summer 2026. As the organization continues to grow, ETIC is looking to strengthen engagement with donors, students and the broader community through its social media platforms.

This internship offers hands-on experience analyzing and creating digital content, evaluating audience engagement and developing strategic recommendations for future social media success.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing ETIC’s social media channels (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats)

  • Identifying audience demographics

  • Conducting an environmental scan of similar organizations

  • Evaluating traffic and engagement across platforms

  • Assisting with content creation (text, graphics and video)

  • Developing prompts to increase follower engagement

  • Identifying opportunities to improve accessibility

  • Researching new and emerging platforms

  • Recommending strategies for monitoring and improving engagement

  • Preparing reports with findings and recommendations

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with social media platforms

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to analyze data and present findings

  • Graphic design and video editing skills are a plus, but not required

Details:

  • Term: Summer 2026

  • Format: Hybrid (primarily remote with some travel to Sumner, MS)

  • Supervision: Director of Development & Stewardship, in collaboration with the Grants Management Coordinator

  • Preference given to candidates in the Mississippi Delta region
