Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Social Media and Online Presence Management: Assist with managing Rootswell’s social media channels, including scheduling posts, creating engaging content, and growing the local audience. Intern will also support the buildout of Rootswell.org
  • Community Media Request Liaison: Serve as the point of contact for community requests related to food related event promotion and resource creation.
  • Newsletter Management: Build and manage a monthly newsletter for Delta stakeholders and the wider community.
  • Event Planning and Coordination Support: Help in organizing and executing Rootswell-sponsored events with community partners, and ensure posting of food-related events across Rootswell’s web presence.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Manager, MS Delta Programs

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Applicants must be a Mississippi Delta native; List counties in cover letter.
  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a bachelor’s degree program in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or related field;
  • Experience using Canva, Adobe Express or other graphic design platforms
  • Social media savvy with keen interest in content creation and audience engagement;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Basic graphic design skills for creating engaging content and promotional material;
  • Ability to work remotely and attend in-person meetings and events, as needed;
  • Experience in community organizing, event planning, and social media campaign execution; and
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate on multiple, concurrent projects.

Reporting Structure: This position is supervised by and reports directly to the Manager, MS Delta Programs. Candidate will also work collaboratively with the Social Media Coordinator and the Director of MS Delta Programs.

Compensation: $20 an hour
