QUALIFICATIONS
The Religious Studies Program (in the Department of Philosophy and Religion) seeks to raise its campus profile and increase recognition in the Oxford/Lafayette community. It is looking for an independent and creative thinker, skilled in media and design, who has excellent attention to detail and feels comfortable building a network of both community organizations and alumni. This person will primarily be responsible for developing a strategic social media presence and creating advertisements for departmental programming in both traditional and digital platforms.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Work with Religious Studies faculty in designing advertisements for upcoming courses and forum events, videos of faculty and alumni interviews, and expand social media presence. Advertisements should be strategically developed to increase student enrollment, attendance, and community engagement.
- Use a camera to take photos at events, portraits of interview subjects, and capture visual content around the Department
- Capture and edit videos of faculty and departmental events for website and social media
- Develop a strategy to reach alumni, local religious communities, civic groups and other organizations with overlapping interests
- Student will be paid an hourly wage, with an average workload of 5 to 7 hours per week. Student may work up to 100 total hours during Spring Semester
SKILLS
- Independent and creative thinker
- Basic understanding of social media marketing
- Basic video skills
- Basic photography skills
- Basic understanding of design programs (e.g., Photoshop, Canva)
EXPECTATIONS
- Close communication with faculty in developing materials and building networks
- Record hours worked accurately and in timely manner
- May work up to 100 hours during Spring Semester
- Adjust weekly hours to meet programming deadlines
